Recommended professions
Recommended for Shaman:
The shaman is a hybrid: melee hits, shocks, totems and healing in a single kit. In WoW Forever it levels from 1 to 60 with a one-handed weapon and a shield, and it can heal itself between fights. However generates a full shaman route for your race: quests, totem chains, trainers, talents and gear, step by step.
Strengths and weaknesses
- Healing Wave and Lightning Shield keep you fighting with little downtime.
- Earth Shock interrupts casters; Earthbind Totem and Frost Shock slow enemies.
- Ghost Wolf at level 20 speeds up travel; Reincarnation at level 30 can bring you back after a death.
- Mana runs out fast if you heal and shock too often.
- Each totem element needs its own totem item, given by a class quest chain.
Talents and weapons
The guide uses the build Enhancement then Elemental: 31 points in Enhancement up to Stormstrike at level 40 (Flurry, Maelstrom Weapon, Rage of the Farseer), then 20 points in Elemental (Convection, Concussion, Reverberation, Call of Flame). The talent calculator also shows an Elemental build with Lava Burst, still to be confirmed in game.
Carry a slow one-handed weapon, a mace if possible, and a shield. Strength comes first, then intellect for your mana pool, then agility and stamina. You can wear mail from level 40.
Mana and totems
Only one totem per element can be active. The guide keeps Searing Totem for fire, Strength of Earth Totem for earth and a mana totem for water. Rockbiter Weapon and Flametongue Weapon carry you until Windfury Weapon at level 30. To save gold for your mount, the guide skips group totems, resistance totems, Chain Heal and Purge.
Common mistakes
- Spending all your mana on shocks, then having none left to heal.
- Dropping every totem on a monster that dies in a few hits.
- Forgetting the Ankh in your bags: Reincarnation needs it.
- Skipping a totem chain: without the totem item, you cannot cast that element.
What your shaman guide contains
Your guide adds the totem quest chains, a trainer visit every two levels from level 4, one talent point per level from 10, a gear plan for the weapon and the shield, macros and PvP advice. Create your shaman or try the shaman talent calculator.
In WoW Forever, the Alliance shaman is a dwarf: it is the only Alliance race that can pick this class, and the reference race for this page. This combination does not exist in Classic Era.
- Dwarves start in Coldridge Valley, then Kharanos, in Dun Morogh.
- The shaman trainers are in Coldridge Valley, Kharanos and Ironforge. There is none in Stormwind.
- Earth totem chain at level 4, in Dun Morogh.
- Fire totem chain at level 10, in Dun Morogh and Loch Modan.
- Water totem chain at level 20, across Loch Modan, the Wetlands and Westfall.
No air totem chain is known for the Alliance yet, so the guide does not plan one. Read the shared Alliance route.
Frequently asked questions
- Enhancement or Elemental for leveling a shaman in WoW Forever?
- The guide levels as Enhancement up to Stormstrike, then Elemental for shocks and mana. An Elemental build with Lava Burst is available in the talent calculator, still to be confirmed in game.
- Can the Alliance play a shaman in WoW Forever?
- Yes, as a dwarf. Forever adds the dwarf shaman, with its own trainers in Dun Morogh and Ironforge and its own totem quest chains for earth, fire and water.
- Which totems should I use while leveling?
- Only one totem per element can be active. The guide keeps Searing Totem, Strength of Earth Totem and a mana totem for water, and skips the group and resistance totems.
- Why do I need the totem quests?
- Each element needs its own totem item to cast its totems, and the class quest chains give these items. Your guide places each chain on the route at the right level.
- Two-handed weapon or shield for a leveling shaman?
- The guide plans a slow one-handed weapon with a shield, for armor and safety while you level alone. Your gear plan shows the weapon to aim for in each five-level bracket.
