Fishing WoW Forever leveling guide 1-300
Example guide: undead rogue (Horde, WoW Forever). Create your character to get yours.
Fishing step by step
Fishing is a secondary profession: you cast a line in any water and catch fish, and now and then other loot. It makes nothing by itself, but it feeds Cooking and gives you something relaxing to do during a pause.
Every class can learn it, and it suits characters who want to earn a bit of gold or cook their own food. The cost is low, since you only need a fishing pole and some patience. The time spent is the real price: fishing is slow, so the guide keeps it for downtime rather than sending you to fish for long.
The classic combination is Fishing with Cooking, and neither uses a primary profession slot. It also fits next to any primary pair, such as Herbalism and Alchemy, or Mining and Blacksmithing.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Fishing a good use of leveling time?
- Only in small doses. Fishing is slow compared with questing, so it is best kept for downtime, waiting for a group, or a short stop near water. The guide does not ask you to fish for hours.
- What pairs well with Fishing?
- Cooking. The fish you catch become food that restores health and mana, which saves you gold. Both are secondary professions, so they leave your two primary profession slots free.
- Does every class need a fishing pole?
- Yes. You need a fishing pole equipped, and many characters also use lures later. Poles are sold by vendors in the main cities, so you can pick one up on your way before your first cast.
